After I was shot, I became addicted to pain meds which eventually led me to start shooting heroin. I tried many times to get clean. Everyone gave up on me. I hurt a lot of people. Burned plenty of bridges. Went to dozens of treatment centers, thousands of N.A. & A.A. meetings, counselors, medication, and anything you can imagine looking for the answer. I found that answer when I was arrested in 2010 and I had a moment of clarity in the back of a police cruiser in handcuffs crying my eyes out and asked God to help me break the addiction.
That same year I entered New Life for Youth and fully surrendered my life to Christ. It's been over 5 years that I've been clean today, and I am reminded every second that there is nothing in this world that God can't give you the strength to overcome! This is for the addict that feels hopeless, and this is for the family member that is considering giving up on that brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife.
You can be free! They can be free! If God could change a terrible person like me from the inside out, He can change them as well. With God all things are possible.
