THE Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG)'s 62nd annual convention started this morning with the ordination of 8,622 deacons and deaconesses. This year's event is themed 'The Holy Spirit'.
Speaking on this year's programme, RCCG General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye said "This theme makes the convention more than any other - Holy Spirit Himself. The reason the Christian life of many believers might have been very uninteresting and dry is because divine illumination which the Holy Spirit produces through His word is largely absent. If only we would open ourselves fully to the Holy Spirit at this convention, help will come our way and we shall go back home rejuvenated and bubbling in joy of the Holy Spirit. Dryness will become a thing of the past.
"These are great and awesome work of grace the Holy Spirit produces in the lives of His people. As we come thirsty and not for a jamboree, it is expected that before the convention is over, many of us will say I have indeed come to keep an appointment with destiny. For instance what wisdom and understanding impacted, students who have been having it rough in their academics despite all they put in, it will be their turn to smile. They shall receive help and exam failure will begin to change to stories of exam success.
"Because hope makes not ashamed (Romans 5:5), we are trusting God that through this convention, shame will be terminated where found in our lives. The barren shall be helped and they shall become fruitful, the sick and the afflicted shall obtain help and shall be healed, help will flow in the direction of the bound and they shall be set free, the forgotten shall be remembered at last and every good thing that might have died in our lives shall come alive again."
