Jeremiah 36:20-26
King Jeremiah had decided that Jeremiah and his prophecies had to be surpressed as a matter of national policy. In spite of the advice of many of his counsellors, he burned Jeremiah's scroll of messages as it was read in an official meeting. Jehoiakim tried to rally his government by butting heads with Jeremiah; however, he didn't realize that he was actually facing God himself.m
It's not uncommon for societies to think they have advanced beyond the moral standards of God's Word. Every now and then we read or hear an "expert" claiming that the Bible is hopelessly dated, oppressive and reactionary. Years from now, God's moral demands will be the same, but those "experts" will not be around. Hang on to the Bible and be
skeptical of so-called experts.
