The respect that the writer mentions here ( Ecclesiastes 12.13,14) is a "holy fear" of God. Not a terrifying, horror-story type of fear but an attitude of awe toward the Almighty God. Faith and love give it strength to the point that it becomes an abiding passion of the soul.
After a long search, the writer comes to the conclusion that created beings can't create truth. God is the only real Creator and we do well to think the thoughts he teaches us.
We can find happiness in applying God's truths to the various areas of responsibility we are given. Because of our deep respect for God, we find joy in obeying him.
