You can overcome addiction. Read and be inspired!

I don't care if this offends someone, or their opinion of me changes after reading this post, because someone needs to hear it. This is for the person that thinks that they can't be free from the bondage of drug addiction.

After I was shot, I became addicted to pain meds which eventually led me to start shooting heroin. I tried many times to get clean. Everyone gave up on me. I hurt a lot of people. Burned plenty of bridges. Went to dozens of treatment centers, thousands of N.A. & A.A. meetings, counselors, medication, and anything you can imagine looking for the answer. I found that answer when I was arrested in 2010 and I had a moment of clarity in the back of a police cruiser in handcuffs crying my eyes out and asked God to help me break the addiction.

That same year I entered New Life for Youth and fully surrendered my life to Christ. It's been over 5 years that I've been clean today, and I am reminded every second that there is nothing in this world that God can't give you the strength to overcome! This is for the addict that feels hopeless, and this is for the family member that is considering giving up on that brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife.

You can be free! They can be free! If God could change a terrible person like me from the inside out, He can change them as well. With God all things are possible.
Keep praying...
Keep believing...
Hold on...

If you need prayer let us know.
If you are set free from addiction SHARE your story of freedom. Just like I said earlier... Someone needs to hear it! God bless you

Full text of Pastor E.A Adeboye's welcome message at the 63rd RCCG Annual Convention

The Redeemed Christian Church Of God's annual convention kicked off yesterday at The Redemption Camp, Lagos Ibadan expressway. This year's theme is The All Sufficient One. Read The General Overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye's welcome message below.

The Lord has preserved us to see another Convention of His Church and to participate in the blessings that He alone can give. We therefore welcome you to the convention of "The All-Sufficient God". This year's theme holds lots of promises for all of us who will participate in all the proceedings and our lives will be imparted in ways we have never imagined.
The All Sufficient One has enough blessings to give all His children because there is no shortage in His storehouse. He appeared to Abraham as the El Shaddai, the One who is more than enough (Gen 17:1), and He is still the same till this moment. During this convention, He will release His All-sufficiency concerning all your long-awaited miracle and you will become a testimony in the name of Jesus.

The All Sufficient One rules by decrees. He commanded light where there was darkness and darkness had no option but to take its leave (Gen 1:3). He commanded ravens to feed Elijah and they did not miss their way (Kings 17:4-6). He is the One who calls those things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:7) and He has not changed. You will encounter Him again as He decrees goodness, mercy, favour, and healing into your life.

He spoke to the sea and the waves and there was peace. He will speak into your situations and you will have new experience of fulfillment. He spoke to the emptiness of a widow and she became an oil merchant, and her disgrace was turned to abundance. Get ready for a delude of miracle.
His promises cover every aspect of your life- spiritual, physical, emotional, financial and material.
Zacchaeus was rich but he needed something money could not buy. He sought the attention of Jesus (Luke 19:12-8). Salvation entered his house, the Lamb of God who takes away sin of the whole world visited him and his past was washed away.

There will be salvation galore during this convention. It is the opportunity you have been waiting for in order to make peace with God. Hannah, the mother of Samuel, did not visit Shiloh in vain. She returned with her bundle of joy. You will be the next in the line. The woman with the issues of blood did not touch His garment in vain. Her issues were adequately dealt with. The man at the Pool of Bethesda was made whole of all his diseases. The incurable was healed and raised up to confront life with gusto.

Since it is God's nature to give more than we need, the anointing that will operate during this convention take you to the level of "running over". That was the anointing that took the shepherd boy and made him a king and the progenitor of the King of kings. This same anointing turned the son of a farmer to a great prophet and the father of kings. This anointing will touch individuals, organizations will be transformed and whole nations will rejoice.
As you participate in all the Plenary Sessions, Seminars and Bible Studies, prepare yourself for unprecedented breakthroughs and a new level of walking with God. Please remember to obey all camp rules and be at the right place at the right time. Be in meditation and take time to reflect on the message God sends to you through His ministers. You will not be disappointed that you attended this year's convention.

The One who holds the whole world in His hand is more than able to meet all needs, and He is already waiting for you. He knows you by name because He calls the stars in their billions by name. He is here before you came. Concentrate on Him and let nothing divert your attention from Him. "They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed" (Psalm 34:5). Remember, this Jesus who is the All Sufficient One, is the same yesterday, and today and forever.

Welcome to Convention 2015

Event: Champions Church presents, 'Man For All Seasons' | 28th June, 2015

Ever wondered what makes a man ideal?

In a recent among a group of people, the issue "what makes a man" was raised. At the just celebrated Father's day, a lot of men- fathers, fathers-in-waiting, young me, boys and "baby daddies" had a lot to rejoice about and it wasn't just the fact that they were alive to witness another year of celebrations, some were celebrating their new progeny, their upgrade into adulthood, their capabilities as fathers and their abilities to produce children. While some are male at best, some others can actually be called men by the definitive standards.

The big question is, What are these definitive standards? What makes a man ideal?

Join us this Sunday 28th June 2015, 9am @ 105 Ogunlana drive Surulere, Lagos as we discuss the 4H Man- His Head, His Heart, His Hand and of course, His Handsomeness.

Host: Biodun Adeyanju;
Guest attendance: Mai Atafo.

This event is FREE for all and is Powered by Champions Church.

British-Born Ghanaian Artiste Miss Mercy sings cover of Solomon Lange's Yabo

British-Born Ghanaian Artiste Miss Mercy sings cover of Solomon Lange's Yabo. Miss Mercy aka Mercy Ankama has been singing since 8 years old. Here are her thoughts about the Song "Yabo".

"Growing up in a Christian
household, I couldn't help but to develop a love for Gospel music.
Being a Ghanaian living in the UK and being surrounded by so many
different people from various backgrounds,it is not unusual to hear Gospel music in different languages. I have always loved that. I would like to think of myself as a true worshipper and it's amazing to be able to praise God not only in my mother tongue but also be able to praise him in other
languages. So apart from the fact that, YABO by Solomon Lange was
beautifully composed and quite written by someone who has a great deal of knowledge about the things of God, the opportunity to sing in Hausa, really drove me to do a cover of it.

It was a little challenging at first but after doing a Google search for the lyrics some practice I felt confident enough. God Bless you Solomon Lange, I pray that you continue to make amazing
inspiring music."‎

Gospel singer, Buchi celebrates Birthday Today With Brand New Single, 'It's Still Legal', A.K.A Song 55.

Buchi, the music minister and missionary, just released a brand new single titled 'IT'S STILL LEGAL' to celebrate his birthday today the 24th of June, 2015. Buchi's birthday is taking a low-key this year because of the importance of the message in the song, and so Buchi has chosen to release it NOW, instead of his traditional 3 years intervals between albums or new releases.

All of Buchi's albums have been released at intervals of three years: 1999 (These days), 2002 (So beautiful), 2005 (What a Life), 2008 (Sound of Life), 2011 (Judah), 2014 (I See)... so why can't SONG 55 wait till 2017?

This song is not likely to make you dance, It's not intended to. This is a song to the church, for everyone who has things to do for God, the time is now!  It's the clarion call of watchmen: Like the "Children of Issachar, Men who had understanding of the times Who knew what Israel ought to do" (1 chronicles 12:32). So RISE UP WHILE IT'S STILL LEGAL to talk about Jesus publicly, before the doors are shut completely.

SONG 55 (IT'S STILL LEGAL) has four different versions, features THREE (3) artistes - Iyke Onka, Farlon Lyte (South Africa), and Sam Jamz; THREE (3) amazing music producers (J-Treash, Ceewai & Iyke Onka); and that very important message. Its not about what version you like best or prefer, its about the message.

SONG 55:
-It's STILL LEGAL FT FARLON LYTE Produced by JTreash
-It's STILL LEGAL FT SAMJAMZ Produced by JTreash
-It's STILL LEGAL FT IYKE ONKA Produced by Iyke Onka
-It's STILL LEGAL FT SOLO Produced by Ceewai

Buchi says "Before I knew that I would ever sing, I always knew that i had a role to play and be involved in a song that would herald the coming of Christ. This is it. I will be eternally grateful if you can as my birthday gift, help, support, share, tweet, post and distribute through your various networks this song, so that this God given message can reach everyone. I Thank You"

A Real Final Exam

In the old west, the prospectors took their ore to the assayer's office so he could test it and tell them if they had gold. That test revealed true quality. In school, sweaty-palmed students take exams that sort them out according to a set of standard.

This kind of test shows relative value. Consumer agencies run various products through tests to see if they stand up to advertising claims. These tests expose poor quality.

God told Judah they would be exposed as worthless people who claimed to be God's protected favorites but they really didn't know or love him at all. They could fail his ultimate test. Let's be ready for God'4 final exam by building a personal relationship with him.

God's Timetable

Ecclesiastes records the writer's search for wisdom. He tells us more about his troubled search than about the lessons he learned. The writer does share a lesson with us in this verse. He has learned that God has a right time for everything.

It's more than a good idea to be ready for God's timing. To be caught off guard by events can cause great sorrow. Find your peace knowing your life is in God's hands and that his timing will be perfect for you.

If You Will Obey

Every agreement has conditions. Here the Lord lays down a few simple ones. He reminded Solomon that the only way his kingdom would continue was if Solomon would do as David had done and obey the Lord. If Solomon or his people began to worship foreign. Gods, they could be sure that God would punish them.

God's promises to us are similar. He promises that if we obey him, he will take good care of us. But if we chase after the gods of money, power, sex, pride, houses, cars or anything else instead of him, the good gifts from God will be pulled out of our hands.

These are not harsh conditions. We can't expect to double-cross our friends and expect to keep them. God proves himself to be our best possible friend. Let's not put anything in his place.

Brave Because Of God

Whatever tragedy or suffering comes your way in life- as it usually does- here is a good word of encouragement. God thinks highly of you and he intends this for your good. It's only natural to wonder how suffering and pain can do any good.

Consider the many believers throughout history who suffered but were still able to present Christ to many. Even Jesus himself had to suffer a miserable death on the cross. When others seem to be tearing us down, let's remember that God thinks highly of us.

This May Be Your Chance

When Mordecai asked for Esther's help, he assured her that God was goiing to bring his people through the difficulties they faced. If Esther refused, then she would receive punishment along with the people who wanted to kill the jews.

But Mordecai also challenged Esther. Perhaps this was the reason the Lord had placed her in the position of being a favored queen.

It took courage and boldness for Esther to approach the king without being invited. She was literally risking her life.

We, too, may have to risk all that is dear to us when we speak up for what is right. But, like Esther, we can be sure that the results of our efforts are in God's hands- even if it costs us our lives to do what is right.

When we trust God, things in our lives don't happen by accident. You may be in the place where you are "for a time like this".

From Tragedy To Triumph

When the closest relative refused to buy Elimelech's land and marry Ruth, Boaz quickly announced that he would do both. Ruth's loyalty to Naomi was being greatly rewarded. She was now to have a fine, godly husband. Naomi too was blessed as a result of Ruth's faithfulness- she soon had a grandson!

When we obey God's direction in our lives, the path ahead may look rough and rocky but we can be assured that, like Ruth, our obedience and loyalty will be rewarded by God some day and those around us will be blessed as well.

Tell your Children

Although God's miracles did not soften the king's heart, they did show the Israelites how powerful God really was. God told Moses the Israelites needed to tell their children about these miracles so future generations would know about God's love and power.

It is up to us to make sure that future generations know about God's miracles and his love for us. Whether or not we have children of our own, we should do all we can to get God's word into the hearts and minds of children.

We can share with them how God has worked in our lives. We can tell them what God can do in their lives, too. We can read the Bible to them or tell them some Bible stories. Most of all, we can love all children as God does.

A Profitable Shipwreck

Paul and his shipmates probably would have been thankful just to reach dry ground safely. But there was another plan behind this shipwreck on Malta.

The Governor of this island, Publius and his family were targets for God's saving message. So were many of the other people of this island. Paul was able to deliver the gospel to an entire island!

We experience disruptions in our plans, too. But don't be upset when plans are interrupted. God usually has a reason for the distraction. Let's keep our eyes open for these opportunities.

Pope Francis writes to the Bishops of Nigeria

Pope Francis has encouraged Nigerian Bishops to become promoters of a more just and fraternal society in the face of the country's security issues and other challenges. The letter was written to on March 17. Find excerpts below:

To the Bishops of Nigeria,

Dear Brother Bishops,

While we walk this Lenten journey towards the Resurrection of the Lord united with the whole Church, I wish to extend to you, dear Archbishops and Bishops of Nigeria, a fraternal greeting, which I extend to the beloved Christian communities entrusted to your pastoral care.

I would also like to share some thoughts with you on the current situation in your country. Nigeria, known as the "African giant", with its more than 160 million inhabitants, is set to play a primary role, not only in Africa but in the world at large.

In recent years, it has experienced robust growth in the economic sphere and has again reasserted itself on the world stage as an attractive market, on account of its natural resources as well as its commercial potential. It is now considered officially the single largest African economy.

It has also distinguished itself as a political player widely committed to the resolution of crisis situations in the continent. At the same time, your nation has had to confront considerable problems, among them new and violent forms of extremism and fundamentalism on ethnic, social and religious grounds.

Many Nigerians have been killed, wounded or mutilated, kidnapped and deprived of everything: their loved ones, their land, their means of subsistence, their dignity and their rights. Many have not been able to return to their homes.

Believers, both Christian and Muslim, have experienced a common tragic outcome, at the hands of people who claim to be religious, but who instead abuse religion, to make of it an ideology for their own distorted interests of exploitation and murder. I would like to assure you and all who suffer of my closeness.

Every day I remember you in my prayers and I repeat here, for your encouragement and comfort, the consoling words of the Lord Jesus, which must always resound in our hearts: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you" (Jn 14:27). Peace – as you know so well – is not only the absence of conflict or the result of political compromise or fatalistic resignation.

Peace is for us a gift which comes from on high; it is Jesus Christ himself, the Prince of Peace, who has made of two peoples one (cf. Eph 2:14). And only the man or woman who treasures the peace of Christ as a guiding light and way of life can become a peacemaker (cf. Mt 5:9).

At the same time, peace is a daily endeavour, a courageous and authentic effort to favour reconciliation, to promote experiences of sharing, to extend bridges of dialogue, to serve the weakest and the excluded. In a word, peace consists in building up a "culture of encounter".

And so I wish here to express my heartfelt thanks to you, because in the midst of so many trials and sufferings the Church in Nigeria does not cease to witness to hospitality, mercy and forgiveness.

How can we fail to remember the priests, religious men and women, missionaries and catechists who, despite untold sacrifices, never abandoned their flock, but remained at their service as good and faithful heralds of the Gospel? To them, most particularly, I would like to express my solidarity, and to say: do not grow tired of doing what is right!

We give thanks to the Lord for them, as for so many men and women of every social, cultural and religious background, who with great willingness stand up in concrete ways to every form of violence, and whose efforts are directed at favouring a more secure and just future for all.

They offer us moving testimonies, which, as Pope Benedict XVI recalled at the end of the Synod for Africa, show "the power of the Spirit to transform the hearts of victims and their persecutors and thus to re-establish fraternity" (Africae Munus, 20).

Dear Brother Bishops, in perseverance and without becoming discouraged, go forward on the way of peace (cf. Lk 1:79).

Accompany the victims! Come to the aid of the poor! Teach the youth! Become promoters of a more just and fraternal society! I gladly impart to you my Apostolic Blessing, which I ask you to extend to priests, religious, missionaries, catechists, lay faithful and above all to those suffering members of the Body of Christ.

May the Resurrection of the Lord bring conversion, reconciliation and peace to all the people of Nigeria! I commend you to Mary, Queen of Africa, and I ask you also to pray for me.

FRANCISCUS PP.

Never Enough?

We all have at least one excuse for not fitting certain things into our schedules. There's so much to do and barely enough time to do them.

But time is not something that is waiting to be found. We will never find enough time to spend doing the things that bring us closer to God. Instead we must make time available.

We worry about balancing life's demands and where the next paycheck will come from. But God reminds us that there is no better investment of our lives than taking time today to serve and honour God.

Fashion Is A Harsh Mistress

Billboards, television and radio shout about the latest trend or the newest style we need to buy. There is nothing wrong with wearing the latest fashion but an obsession with beauty or outward appearance can indicate a lack of respect for God.

If our focus turns from the living God to luxury we worship an idol. The things of this world will eventually pass away but God is eternal and unchanging.

Instead let's be beautiful in our heart by being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last and God considers it very special.

Action, Not Just Words.

King Asa backed up his words with actions. Encouraged by the message from God's prophet, Asa was not afraid to confront the idol worshipers in the nation.

He ordered the idols destroyed, and that there should be no more worship of any god but the true God. Asa also repaired the Lord's altar at the temple in Jerusalem.

It is one thing to say we want to live our lives in a way that pleases God. It is quite another to get rid of the idols in our lives and begin restoring the things of God to their rightful place in our lives.

Fresh commitments are fine but we need to prove our words with our changed lives.

A day of darkness in Lekki | By: Pastor Bolaji Idowu

The darkness of sin, perversion, tragedy and loss remains consistent in today's world. One such tragedy occurred in Lagos yesterday as several people lost their lives in a carefully planned robbery operation where 12 men held an entire street hostage, bringing fear and trepidation to the hearts of men.

"Safety does not rest in our distance from the danger, but in our nearness to God." – Anon.

Nobody woke up that morning planning to die. Of those that died, yesterday was supposed to be a regular day where they go to work and come back home to their families, friends and loved ones. If they knew it was their last day, they would have done a lot of things differently: told their loved ones how they really felt, settled as many scores as they could and most importantly, they would have made right with their Maker.

Tomorrow is not guaranteed here on
earth, we only have today to make the most of our lives. Tragedies like this bring the reality of eternity to the fore of everyone's mind and pose the question: are you in right standing with your Maker? Being in right standing with your Maker doesn't mean you are perfect, it means you acknowledge and accept the finished works on Christ on the cross and are living a life of faith, a life that is pleasing to God. That's how you make the most of your today.

It is God's desire for you to have the guarantee of eternal bliss when you depart from the world. That's why He sent Jesus to bear the sins of the whole world upon Himself.

He threw the offer open to as many people as are willing to believe and receive Him into their hearts.

Like the scripture says "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If ANYONE hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."

This offer of salvation is valid for all tribes, races and social classes. There is no one so good that they have no need for Christ and there is no one so bad that God's grace cannot restore.

Many people wonder if there really is a God in heaven and if He is, why He allows bad things happen. God has given us the free will to either choose or reject Him. Being a merciful God, He keeps giving each and every one of us one more chance.

According to the scriptures, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering towards us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

It is safe to trust in this God Who never runs out of second chances for us. Today may be your last chance to make things right with Him. Don't leave it till tomorrow. If you haven't already accepted Christ into your heart, there is no better time than now to do it. If you have but you are not consistent in the faith, there is no better time to start being consistent than now.

The scripture says "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this is the judgment"

There is light and hope for everyone who accepts and believes in Jesus, hope in this life and in the life to come.

Jesus said "The thief comes but to steal, to kill and to destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it
more abundantly"

The abundant life Jesus promised covers all aspects of our lives. The presence of Jesus in our lives brings peace, hope
and joy. His Word and Spirit are able to change your perspective of life and you begin to enjoy life in a way you never imagined possible. This abundant life Jesus promised is still valid for all who will trust in Him.

You have the assurance that no matter what, you and God are on the winning team. May the God of all comfort provide comfort to those who lost oved ones in that tragedy and all who mourn.

May the light of His Love bring healing and warmth into all of our lives.

A Life of Praise

To praise the Lord with your whole heart is the most selfless act you can experience in your life. Sometimes our prayers contain a bit of selfishness even if the asking is on behalf of others.

On the other hand, praise is a gift that is freely given in adoration of the awesome God. It demands a reverent attitude of the body, a focused mind, an energetic emotion from the heart and a submissive spirit.

Our songs and words are sent out with no expectation of getting something in return. Praise is an expression of unconditional love.

The Bottom Line

The respect that the writer mentions here ( Ecclesiastes 12.13,14) is a "holy fear" of God. Not a terrifying, horror-story type of fear but an attitude of awe toward the Almighty God. Faith and love give it strength to the point that it becomes an abiding passion of the soul.

After a long search, the writer comes to the conclusion that created beings can't create truth. God is the only real Creator and we do well to think the thoughts he teaches us.

We can find happiness in applying God's truths to the various areas of responsibility we are given. Because of our deep respect for God, we find joy in obeying him.

Different from the world

Christians should be different from unbelievers in their attitudes. When we think and act like everyone else, something is wrong. What is it that distinguishes Christians from those who do not believe?

Our Spirit-driven lifestyles and the way we treat people set an example for others. Our unspoken message won't draw attention to us; it reflects God's message to his people.

In this verse we see that despite the position of Israel as the chosen nation of God, their neighbours thought they were just like every other nation.

They did not see anything special about the Isrealites. Do your co-workers, friends or schoolmates know that you are a Christian? Don't be afraid to share your beliefs with those around you.

Good Parents Are A Great Treasure

Timothy's mother and grandmother had been great women of faith. Their lives probablt set great examples for young Timothy. They had taught him about faith and when Timothy got older their example and teaching paid off.

Parents make the biggest difference in the way their children grow up. They can guide their children to know and love Jesus.

They can establish a firm foundation of faith that will prepare their children for choices they'll have to make later in life. Godly mothers and fathers are the best teachers of faith for children.

Complain, Complain, Complain!

Only three days into their renewed journey, the Israelites began complaining again. They whined about how much better life had been in Egypt, apparently forgetting all the misery they had suffered as slaves.m

Incredible as it may seem, they also forgot about the many miracles the Lord had already performed to help them during their travels.

How easily we, too, become discouraged when life does not go our way. We often overlook the many good things God provides for us.

God did not tolerate grumbling from the Israelites and he does not want us to waste our time complaining either. Instead, we should be thankful for the way God is taking care of us, day by day.

When Moses asked people with various gifts and abilities to help with the sacred tent, not everyone's gifts were in the form of gold or silver. The people gave their skills and talents to do whatever they could.

Those who knew how to sew and weave clothe were glad to use their talents for the LORD's sacred tent. Skilled craftsmen made beautiful objects of art. Other people used their talents to sculpt and to carve items from wood.

Similarly, each of us has been given special gifts, talents and abilities. We are responsible for using them in a way that honours God.

Whether you are a business person, a doctor, an accountant, a factory worker or an artist, your work can help further the work of God going on all around you.

I Forgive You

‎This is among the greatest phrases in any language. After a long separation caused by disagreement between friends or lovers, to forgive each other I'd a welcome relief.

To be forgiven is to begin life all over with renewed hope that life will be beautiful again.

Forgiveness is not an emotion. It is a decision. When we choose to forgive someone, God will see to it that the feelings of forgiveness foll‎ow that decision. God always stands ready to forgive us.

Like David in this Psalm, our sorrow for some sins may be unbearable. Only God knows our deep need of forgiveness. Like David, we will find God's ‎"welcome home" When we come to him.

Happy Birthday to Pastor E.A Adeboye

God add more beautiful years to his age, strengthen and bles‎s him.

The Shocking Meal

One of the main foods of the Passover meal was bread. Passover was celebrated every year by the Israelites as a reminder of how God rescued them‎ from slavery in Egypt  so Jesus knew that the symbol of bread would be meaningful to his audience.

The bread we buy in the grocery store gives life. But that bread molds and spoils. Jesus said he can give us bread that is everlasting. And Jesus is that bread.

We are nourished by Jesus‎ when we begin trusting Him. When we rely on Jesus for taking care of our needs, he gives us eternal life.

The Way Of Sorrow

Sorrow for our sins is the first stage of spiritual life. It is now like an apology given after an argument that is only meant to make the other person feel better.

It is a deep state of sorrow for our actions. In one way, sin is the death of our spirits before God and sorrow is the first step to the resurrection of our spirits.

This is not a one-time ritual to be performed for God's benefit, though. Rather, it becomes a continuous attitude within our hearts. We must always be mindful of depths to which our soul has been plunged, and recall the heights to which God's grace has brought us.

Good and Evil Don't Mix

We don't have to look far to find evidence of evil in this world. There are people we deal with regularly who do not believe in Christ or who care little for God.

2 Corinthians 6:14, 7:1. In this passage, Paul tells the Corinthian believers to stay away from all evil things. Does that mean that we should stay away from people who are not Christians?

No. God expects us to befriend nonbelievers and share Christ with them. We should be good examples, showing them God's goodness. But when we spend too much time around sinful behaviour, we tend to see such actions as being acceptable.

That's whu we need to remember to spend time with other believers, strengthening our faith and celebrating God's greatness.

The Giving Gift

In the Old Testament, God expected Israel to give 10% of their crops and income to support the temple and the priests. In the New Testament, God asks for generous giving to support his work.

"Every ma according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)

It may seem like a tremendous sacrifice to surrender any of our income to give to a church. Yes, giving our money or time to someone else seems like a sacrifice. But it is a sacrifice of love.

"For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not." (2 Corinthians 8:12)

Age Is No Excuse

We carry around a load of excuses that we pull out when the occasion demands. For example, Jeremiah sought to avoid his calling by using age as an exemption.
Yet throughout the Bible there are numerous examples of God using peoiple despite their age. Joseph, Samuel and David were youngsters when they were called. Abraham and Noah received a call in their mature years.

The outward body doesn't matter to God; he looks for the willing heart. It doesn't matter how young or old you are.

What matters is the maturity of your heart. God has a way of using the most unlikely instruments to do his work. Even though we may feel ordinary, we never know when God may call us to do his work.

I've Gotta Get Out of This Place

Everybody wants to escape now and then. We want to get away from mindless monotony, crushing responsibility and ruined relationships. We daydream of such escapes into a carefree, peaceful place.

Jeremiah's desire to escape had a different motive though. The longer he aligned himself with the will of God, the more he found himself out of step with his society. As a prophet he was always speaking against the lifestyle, politics and business practices of his neighbours. He wanted to run away rather than stay and try to make a difference.

Even Jesus expressed a desire to escape the responsibility of the cross but he resisted the impulse. "Father.....not my will but thine, be done". (Luke 22:42)

Then and now, God wants his people to live in the world and affect it from the inside. The responsibility of obeying God isn't so bad.

Drowning in misery

You've lost your job, the car needs to be repaired, the kids have been fighting again and your "friends" have deserted you. Your feet feel like they are planted in thick mud and the river is quickly rising to your chin.

Your voice is hoarse and your eyes are swollen from your tears. Where is God when you need him?

Don't be afraid for despite your overwhelming circumstances, God can be trusted. The day will soon come when you can "tell the heavens and earth to start singing! Tell the mountains and every tree in the forest to join in the song! The Lord has rescued his people, now they will worship him"

Do You Laugh At God?

We would probably be quick to doubt if we were told what Sarah had been told. It simply does not seem possible to bear a child at the age of ninety!

But God kept his promise to Abraham and Sarah and Isaac (meaning "laughter") was a reminder of how Sarah had laughed at the idea of having a child. Now Sarah was laughing with joy.

It is easy for us to doubt when situations appear impossible. Some things are too far beyond our understanding but God is not to be limited. The next time we doubt God, we can remember what he did for Sarah.

Tears In A Bottle

In the times of our greatest distress we
can trust in this promise: God hears our prayers (Isaiah 38:5). While we weep with frustration or agony, God captures our tears as they fall. He carefully collects our sorrows and holds them close.

With his great patience, God has noticed the times we have strayed from his path and have stumbled on the rocks. And yet, no matter how weak or pitiful our words may seem, God does not forget the cries of those in need.

Remember the words of the Psalmist- You protected me from death and kept me from stumbling.

(Psalm 56:8,13)

Look What I Found

‎Hilkiah's statement to Shaphan would be like our saying, "Look what I found - a Bible, in church if all places!"

Where had the book of God's‎ Law been for so long? Perhaps it had been right there, covered with dust and clutter. While God's people had been busy worshipping false gods, they had totally neglected the powerful Word of God.

We often fall into a similar trap. Most of us have ready access to a Bible, but many of us fail to explore the great riches in its pages.

When we read the Bible with a desire to know God better, He will speak to our hearts and minds.

The Bible will come alive for us, and we will discover that the God of the Bible is the one true God.

Winners Chapel releases official statement on "gate of hell" allegations.

"Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the President and founder of the Living Faith Church worldwide, also Known as Winners' Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, which has gone viral.

He was reported to have made the statement last Sunday when the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan came to worship at Faith Tabernacle, which is the headquarters of the ministry.

The falsehood that is being spread around by mischief makers is that the Bishop, while praying for the President, said, "I will open the gates of hell to anyone who oppose you." A little later, some others who in an attempt to "defend" the Bishop, came up with another quote purportedly said by Dr. Oyedepo, which is: "I will open the gates of hell to those who oppose the peace of this nation."

Well, let's set the records straight: The Press and Publicity Unit of the church, publishers of Faith Tabernacle News, was at the 3rd service and recorded (on tape), the President's 6-minute speech, the congregational prayer for him and the Bishop's blessing on the President.

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is also the presidential candidate of the ruling party – the PDP, came to the church as the President of this country, not as a candidate in the forthcoming elections. And Bishop Oyedepo prayed for him, as instructed in the Bible book of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, as the President of Nigeria not as a PDP standard-bearer.

The Bishop's prayer for the President

"1st Timothy 2:1-2: I exhort you therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers and intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men." Then on the priority list is "For kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

"I only had an idea of the President's visit just yesterday. It wasn't there last Friday when we had the One Night with The king. So we are going to be praying for our President. Let prayers and supplications and intercessions be made for all men; first of all, for kings, and for them that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

And after that I will do what the priests are asked to do. It says "Speak to Aaron, that after this manner shall ye bless." Proclaim blessings as a priest of God over our President, and the blessings will answer, in the name of Jesus Christ.

In Numbers 6:23-26, The Lord said to Moses and the children of Israel saying "On this wise shall ye bless the children of Israel saying: The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The Lord lift His countenance upon thee and give thee peace."

When that blessing comes to stay, something happens. You see, the generation of the Old Testament knew the value of blessings; they would even cry for it. Every blessing proclaimed upon you today must answer on your life.

I like us to be on our feet and lift the President up to God. Whatever you desire to see God bring about in his life; bring about in our nation, begin to pray that prayer right now.

*Father, release your grace upon the President to manage the demands of his office.

*Release unusual grace in increasing dimensions, to manage the demands of his office.

*Cause your face to shine upon him.

*Lord, grant the desires of his heart.

*Grant Nigeria peace.

*Under him, grant Nigeria greater advancement.

Thank you father, in Jesus' name we pray."

THEN THE BISHOP ALONE PRAYED FOR THE PRESIDENT

*This entire church proclaims the President blessed today

*Blessed with divine wisdom to manage the demands of his office

*Blessed with keys to see the miraculous in his life

*Blessed with grace that will advance His cause in our nation

*Every time we pray here, God hears. The Bible says "Wherever 2 or 3 are gathered, I'm there in their midst, and if we agree concerning anything, it's done for us." Therefore, in the name of Jesus, our President is declared blessed.

*His going out is blessed, his coming in is blessed.

*The will of God is blessed in his life.

*Thank you father, blessed be your name, in Jesus precious name."

And the whole congregation shouted "Amen." That was it!

NOTE:

1. There was no mention of "hell" in the prayer

2. There was no mention of "the gates of hell" in the prayer

3. There was no mention of "opposition" or "oppose" in that prayer

4. It is very clear that these mischief makers were waiting for an opportunity, which presented itself in President Jonathan's visit to the church in the heat of the campaigns. And with what we have seen, most politicians can do just anything to whip up sentiments and score cheap political points.

5. The church has never been involved in partisan politics but has been prayerfully active in ensuring that the Nigerian ship doesn't sink

6. The church has always obeyed the biblical injunction to pray for those in authority and the "peace of Jerusalem."

7. This is not an attempt to defend the church or Bishop Oyedepo, as we already know that no matter how far a lie has travelled, the truth will definitely overtake it.

8. This is also not an attempt to defend God, because the Almighty God is more than able to defend himself.

9. As you read this, no one has even called to confirm from the ministry the veracity of this claim and a video recording of the service which is equally online has been labeled "doctored" by those who are bent on dragging the name of the church into partisan politics.

10. For the record, this is exactly what happened; whatever is being peddled was obviously created by those who want to benefit politically from the controversy; and promoted by bloggers who want to drive traffic to their sites; and spread by those who already think they have an axe to grind with their perceived lifestyle of Bishop Oyedepo.
